Misspelled Names

Sometimes your name is inadvertently misspelled on an important document. Is the document still valid? Does the misspelling excuse you from the particular terms or conditions of the document? No. The court considers misspellings to be minor mistakes.

My name was misspelled on my lease. Can I break it and move out without a penalty?

No. The misspelling is a minor mistake and does not excuse you from being bound by the terms of the lease. If you break it, you are still liable for the rent and any other applicable covenants.
